At Coastal Kids, clear aligner treatment is provided by board-certified orthodontists who work with your child's pediatric dentist in the same practice — so nothing about your teen's overall oral health gets missed while their smile is being transformed. We use digital scanning (no goopy impressions), custom-fabricated aligners, and regular progress appointments to keep treatment on track.
Digital Scan & Records
We use a handheld intraoral scanner to take a precise 3D impression of your teen's teeth — no trays, no material, no gagging. From this scan, we plan the complete tooth movement sequence digitally so you can see the expected result before treatment begins.
Custom Aligners
Each set of aligners is fabricated precisely to your teen's anatomy and moves specific teeth in a specific sequence. Aligners are changed every one to two weeks, and we include compliance tracking features and replacement aligners for Invisalign Teen plans.
Progress Appointments
We see your teen every 6 to 10 weeks to verify tracking, make any needed refinements, and provide new sets of aligners. Our orthodontists monitor tooth movement carefully — clear aligners require the same clinical oversight as braces, not less.
Retainers
After active treatment, your teen wears retainers to hold the new positions. We provide clear retainers that are comfortable and discreet, and give detailed guidance on wear schedule — because retention determines whether results last.

Is Invisalign as effective as braces for teens?
For the right cases, yes. Invisalign is highly effective for crowding, spacing, and many bite issues — and outcomes in these cases are equivalent to traditional braces. For complex skeletal discrepancies or severe bite problems, traditional braces or a combination approach may be more effective. Our board-certified orthodontists will tell you honestly which approach is right for your teen's specific situation, not which is easier to sell.
What age can teens start Invisalign?
Invisalign Teen is designed for adolescents whose permanent teeth have fully erupted — typically around age 12 to 14, though this varies. The key is dental development, not a specific birthday. We assess each teen individually and recommend treatment timing based on their eruption status, jaw development, and case complexity.
What happens if my teen loses an aligner?
Invisalign Teen plans include a set of replacement aligners specifically for this reason. If a tray is lost or damaged, contact us and we'll either use a replacement from the plan or fabricate a new one. In the meantime, we'll advise whether your teen should wear the previous set or skip to the next one depending on where they are in the sequence.
Does insurance cover Invisalign Teen?
Many plans with an orthodontic benefit cover Invisalign at the same level as traditional braces — because the clinical outcome is the same.
